Capstone publication
Why most capstones are public, and how sensitive work stays protected.
AdoptedUpdated
Capstones are public by default, because a growing library of African development roadmaps, policy proposals and institutional reforms is a public good. But serving officials may work with material that cannot be published, so there are three classifications.
- Open: the complete work, the achievement band and a review summary are public
- Redacted: the full work is published with sensitive sections removed
- Confidential: only the abstract, the competencies and the verification record are public
Assessment is identical in all three. Confidentiality is never an easier route to a credential, and a confidential capstone's verification page states plainly that two approved assessors reviewed a withheld submission.
Published capstones carry a permanent address, a version number and a suggested citation, and earlier versions stay available. Learners keep copyright and may publish a revision years later without erasing what came before.
